"Again" is a song by American rock band Alice in Chains and the third single and sixth runway from their self-titled 1995 album. It peaked at No. eight on Billboard's Mainstream Stone Tracks nautical chart,[3] and was nominated for the Grammy Award for All-time Hard Rock Performance in 1997.[four] The vocal was included on the compilation albums Nothing Safe: All-time of the Box (1999), Greatest Hits (2001), and The Essential Alice in Chains (2006). A remixed version of the song was included on the box set Music Banking concern (1999).
Release and reception [edit]
"Once more" made its radio debut in February 1996,[one] and peaked at No. eight on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the calendar week of July 6, 1996.[3] It also peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks nautical chart.[5]
The song was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1997.[4]
In the liner notes of 1999'southward Music Bank box fix drove, guitarist Jerry Cantrell said of the song:
This guy, Praga Kahn, did 3 different mixes. One I didn't like, the second ane (Trip hop Mix) had horns and strings without too many guitars or drums, which I kinda liked. Then at that place was [the "Tattoo of Pain Mix"], which was cool likewise. We put a couple out as "B" sides in Europe. Personally, I never got used to the idea that you had to give some places extra songs and not others, information technology should be the same for everybody as far every bit I'g concerned.[6]
Music video [edit]
The music video for "Once more" was released in March 1996,[seven] and was directed past George Vale.[8]
The music video was nominated for All-time Hard Rock Video at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.[ix]
The video is available on the home video release Music Bank: The Videos, and is the concluding Alice in Chains music video that Layne Staley filmed with the band (the "Get Built-in Once more" music video released in 1999 featured simply archived footage of the vocalist).
Live performances [edit]
"Again" has been known to be performed with singer Layne Staley v times. They performed the song for the outset on the Television show Sat Nighttime Special on April 20, 1996,[x] and also for their advent on the Late Show with David Letterman on May 10, 1996.[eleven] The song was also performed during three of the 4 concerts that Alice in Chains opened for the reunited Kiss in late June and early July 1996.[12]
A live operation of "Again" tin exist establish on the live anthology Live (2000).[xiii]
Since reuniting with new vocalist William DuVall in 2006, "Again" has become a regular office of the band'south setlist.[12]
